Writing Challenge #4
This is saying too but.....As Britney walked down the hallway at Southside High on Monday morning, people walk by whispering and every once in awhile she'd hear her name in amongst the sentences being said. The bell rang and as she walked to class she felt the tears building up in her eyes, and the lump in in her throat. As she reaches in her bag for her phone, she sees that she has 20 unread texts. With each text she read, more and more tears appeared to run down her face. It was obvious to anyone who had seen Britney that something was definitely wrong with her. And if you really knew Britney you'd know that the previous weekend she had gone to a party on Saturday night with her boyfriend (at the time at least) and lets just say she drank a few illegal substances, and got a bit under the influence. As far as Britney knew Sunday morning is that she had drank too much and that she will never drink again...little did she know when she was passed out in the middle of the bathroom after throwing up several times, her boyfriend was in the basement of this party house hooking up with Britney's best friend Jessica. Britney always knew Jessica liked her boyfriend but she never thought she'd actually sink so low and hook up with her boyfriend, when she knew how much she really loved her boyfriend. ANYWAYS...also while she was drunk and passed out kids thought it'd be funny to draw all over her face and then take pictures of her and post them all over Facebook, which means it didn't take long for everyone to see them by the time school started on Monday. Britney, with the self-esteem lower than any girl in the world, was heart broken. She realized she did wrong by drinking uncontrollable amounts of alcohol but she just doesn't understand why her boyfriend would cheat on her, and now her life seemed like it was falling apart and there was nothing she could do about it.

HALLE BERRY FINDS A NEW BEAU!!!! - HOT OFF THE PRESS.
On April 14th Hollywood starlett Halle Berry was taken to Minnesota on a red eye last night around 11 pm where she was found greeted by a unfamiliar fellow. We later found out the unknown man's name was Neil Anderson, a high school teacher at South High in Minneapolis, MN. The two seemed to be really close to eachother, as if they had known eachother for a long time. From their body language it seemed as though they were the new hot couple of 2011! Even Halle's daughter Nahla seemed very fond of Anderson, as she too jumped in his arms right as they got off the plane. After an hour of following the new couple around, as we pulled up to what seemed to be the Anderson's residence, a moving truck met the couple out in the back of his apartment. We soon realized that Halle and her daughter Nahla were moving in with Anderson in his small yet quaint Minneapolis home. From Hollywood to the small city of Minneapolis, we think it is because she is really trying to get away from the drama that came with her divorce with past beau Eric Benet. After she recently discovered he is already engaged to Manuela Testolini, she needed some time to really be with someone who really cares, loves and will be there for her.
After researching Neil Anderson, we had been told by his students that he has always been very fond of Halle, and he even has a picture that is seemed to be photoshopped of them together. Little did his students know that he was seeing her a week after her and her ex had finished the divorce documents. Student Willie Webb told sources that "Neil is the best teacher at South High, and now that we found out he's actually dating Halle Berry, it makes his even better! I just hope he lets me babysit Nahla when him and Halle go out on the town!" The seniors at South High are very happy for Neil and they wish him the best of luck in His and Halle's relationship, and they can't wait to see him all over the tabloids very soon! Will Neil and Halle be the new big thing? Will Hollywood come up with a cute pet name for them? With Halle's ex Eric retailiate? We will just have to wait and see, until then, the best of luck and happiness to the both of them from us.

Writing Challege #1
Senior year, a time to celebrate graduating from going to school for 12 long years, a time to really appreciate your friends and family for pulling you through some of the toughest times and also for helping you make memories that you will remember for the rest of your life. When looking back on this year, I had my ups and downs, but when it came to the downs that I was going through, I feel as though they are what helped shaped me into the mature young woman I see myself as today.
Going into senior year at South High, I wasn't the least bit nervous. I was at the top of the school after all the years of being at the bottom. Being a senior to me meant, relaxing because I no longer had to take all the AP classes I was previously taking, and it also meant freedom, which is what came along with taking VOICES, which I feel in my opinion really helps us get ready for college.
It seems like everything that has happened this year was better than it had been in previous years, such as Super Soccer Saturday, Sadie Hawkins, singing telegrams, and Sweethearts. But when I come to think about it, everything may seem better because it'll be the last time we will be able to attend or do such things as a high school student. And that has really become a reality for me with Softball this year. I want to be sure I play every game to my best ability as if it were the last game I'll ever play. Because at this time, I'm not really sure I will ever play Softball on a competitive level ever again. That also goes along with Prom. I want to make this the most memorable Prom, one that will never be forgotten for as long as I live.
Senior year is known as everyone's favorite year, the one year you look forward to the most as a high school student. And sitting here, knowing that it's so close to being over, I come to realize that maybe I'm not quite ready to let it all end. I don't look forward to watching myself and all my closest friends go there separate ways. Whether they plan on staying in state or going out of state, it just won't be the same as seeing them every single day. Especially all the kids in VOICES, we all became so close this year, it's going to be the hardest goodbye ever.
So on May 26th, 2011, I will find myself on the last day of high school, looking around at the school that I was once nervous to attend as a freshmen and reminiscing on all the memories I had as a student at South High. And as I walk across that stage to get my diploma, and throw my cap in the air amongst the students I've gone to school with the past four years, the one thing that will be going through my mind will be "That was some adventure, huh?"

My group is doing well, we plan on finishing tomorrow with the whole thing which is REALLY exciting :) we had a really hard time earlier this week with our computer and getting the intro together but we got through it! i can't believe it's already almost time for the showing of all the documentarys! i'm so excited to see everyones!
What I got from the reading is the main character in the story is somewhat of an outsider. She seems so different from what everyone else is like, and that turns people away because they feel being different is wrong which is totally not right. She just doesn't want to follow everyone else, she feels she should do her own thing which I totally support! I've never really been one to follow the crowd so I find a similarity in there with the character and myself!

My group is still doing very well, we are delete shots we don't need and we are starting to put shots together! everything is going very, very smoothly and I can't wait to be done! OH also, I've already figured out what my individual project is, and Ms. Hodge you already know but, I'm doing a cooking show with Brandon and John (wish me luck on that one) but John's grandma has really good recipes for mexican foods so we are gonna try something out in that direction, I'm so excited for that!
Everyone deserves freedom, no matter what. But not everyone gets the freedom that they deserve. That's all I really got from the reading and took away from it.

My group and I (Dream Team plus Emily Mann) have taken a little break from filming, because everyone seems to be using the camera at this time. We need one more interview and then we are done filming and then we start editing and putting the final touches on our documentary! That's basically all that's going on right now, and I'm still VERY excited to see everyone's final documentaries.
I wasn't sure who to put for a person that has given a gift to humanity, so naturally I asked my mom who she though has given a gift to humanity and she said Jonas Salk, he was the creator of the Polio vaccine. Polio was a medical oddity that confused researchers for years. It was first recorded in 1835 and began to spread rapidly. It took a long time to learn that the virus was transmitted by fecal matter and secretions of the nose and throat. It entered the victim through the mouth or through the nose, went straight in the intestines, and then traveled to the brain or spinal cord. This disease caused most people to become quarantined, and most of the time this disease led to death. It took Jonas Salk 2 1/2 years to find the cure but he did which was a vaccine that stopped the disease in it's tracks. I feel if Jonas Salk never found a cure to Polio, the world would have ended.

Trailers were AWESOME! Everyone did such a great job, it's so cool to see how far everyone has come in the editing process thus far! I'm also so proud of my group, we are just cruising along in the documentary process and having fun while doing so. We got feedback on what we can change for the final and we will be taking all that advice into consideration! I can't wait to start working on the final project!
Not to sound dumb, but in all honesty I feel as though Justin Bieber has made such a huge social change in the world. I'm not just saying this because I'm a huge fan either :) He just had a movie come out where it came across in the trailer that it would be about him, just him, and no one else. But when you go and see the movie that perspective changes right away, you see how he grew up, under the poverty level, his mother was a teen mom, he grew up in his grandparents home, his father left him and his mom when he was about ten months old, and somehow within all that stress and craziness, this boy had major talent, he could play drums at the age of two, and started learning to play guitar at age 4, if you ask me, that's crazy. and to top it all off the kid can sing. So I feel like Justin Bieber brings hope to those who don't think they can do something, like if they don't think they have the money, or the skill, Justin Bieber shows he conquered it all and achieved a dream he'd never thought would come true. So yes, Justin Bieber has made such a meaningful social change in the past year!
