Blog Post #2

Q: Think about an effective advertisement or media campaign. Why is it effective? How does advertising play a role in what you buy?

The most effective advertisement that is on television right now would have the be the "Above The Influence" ads. They really speak out to teens about how bad drinking and doing drugs is for you.  There are several different ads that can really hit home with different people. There are some that are comical and some that are serious. I feel they are effective because it shows situations that teens have to deal with in real life such as going to a party and seeing everyone under the influence of drugs and alcohol and four or five teens who aren't, and it just shows how ridiculous you look when you are under the influence. At the end it says "If you are not in control, then who is?" and that really speaks out to me because drugs and alcohol take over who you really are and make you someone that you don't necessarily want to be. This advertisement does not play a role in what I purchase but it does play a role in what I do. I stay "Above The Influence."
